Move-up is the beginning steps to future medical careers. Students become engaged in and exposed to a number of ways health services can be approached, and the limitless possibilities of healthcare career choices. Students get to learn about healthcare environments and can acquire basic skills used in healthcare (such as taking vital signs, understanding disease transmission, and OSHA HAZWOPER training). Some students may pursue internship opportunities for on-the-job exposure to a career that interests them. Students are encouraged to “follow their dreams” and realize choosing a path to medical careers is a choice anyone can make, because “nothing happens unless first we dream” (Carl Sandburg).
